Dialogue is clunky and too serious at times. The film can’t seem to land on being a comedy or serious action film. It’s insistence on mixing supposed emotional moments in between action sequences rings hollow. Despite the lack of consistent tone, numerous scenes gave the theatre a good laugh throughout the film. The action scenes were shot well and included engaging choreography. The influence of Bullet Train is very apparent, but Love Hurts couldn’t match its charms. It won’t win any Oscars but remains entertaining and visually striking.
